The
United Association for Labor Education
UALE was founded on April 15, 2000
in
Milwaukee, WI, from the merger of two predecessor organizations, the
University and College Labor Educators Association (UCLEA), and Workers
Education Local 189 (WEL 189). We aim to take the best of both
organizations into the new millennium.
We
now have about 550 individual members, including university and college
faculty, members of union education departments, labor extension
teachers, trainers working in community-based organizations, workplace
educators, independent filmmakers, writers, and many others. We also
have 60 institutional members, including colleges & universities,
unions, and community-based organizations. Our members hail from 40
states plus the District of Columbia, 4 provinces of Canada, Trinidad,
Germany, England and Scotland.
