The
past twenty five years have proved to be one
of the most difficult and
traumatic periods in the history of the labor movement in the United
States. Adjustments to global trade initiatives have strained organized
sectors of our economy. Fundamental changes to union structure are
being proposed on almost every front.
To be
sustainable over time, innovative strategies must be supported by
organizational structures created by the unions, to carry out a vast
array of priorities. Yet as time passes, these environmental conditions
and priorities change and organizations must be flexible enough to
adapt to such changes.
UALE's 2006 Annual Conference will showcase the best research, designs
and practices of the New Labor Education. It will continue UALE's
tradition of serving as a catalyst for innovation and educational
vitality.
